Hi Shelby Highsmith,

I think you are right and the best thing to do is to connect whatever cable, choose headset and try each plug at a time. Let's hope Nokia make a future simple and small adaptor instead of having to take several adaptors just for getting the audio in.
Anyway these Nokia's are really awesome.

Personally i own a Nokia E61i and its not so good as in resolution, lens, cpu power and even cell network (UMTS instead of HSDPA)... but at list i normally run every nokia ready software as the n95.

And thanks, for your video that is a very good example of the external microphone in video of a typical citizen reporter.

I think the yellow plug for video on a 3-plug A/V cable is a fairly universal standard. I also tested this with the A/V cable that came with my Canon ZR-500 and it, too, used the yellow plug for audio input in headset mode. In any case, be sure to test all 3 if you have problems before you cut off any superfluous plugs!
