Here’s a quick video that shows how you can use the Nokia Audio Controller AD-43 as an external microphone on a Nokia N95.
You can connect the Nokia headphones to this and then use the Audio Controller to talk while making phone calls or recording video.
The manual “Some headsets do not include a microphone.”
I’m interested in finding out if anyone has connected a microphone to this device to help record better audio when recording videos.
I know Nokia made a special microphone adapter for some AP news trials, but I have not been able to learn more about that yet.

Many mobile journalists use N95 because of its quality video vice. The problem has been that there is need of a external microphone. Here is the solution. This video shows the use of radio mic and ordinary kabel mic.

And I think the Nokia Reuter’s kit also has some adaptor for the microphone…

Hope it suits you this simple solutions and i hope to see you videos with better sound off course.
I will try when i have one of those n95, mine is a e61i that captures 352×288 i think…

UPDATE (2008/05/06):
A new entry about external mic on N95, this time from shelbinator.com.
I just want to add that the difference between the terminal colors for input has to do with the different adaptors used, because shelbinator uses a nokia adaptor and Gunnar uses a generic adaptor and i suppose thats why the color/terminal used is different.

It’s probably just a bluff, but if the Music Industry does go through with this it would be incredibly stupid of them. I know it would be contrary to their agreements with Apple Records, but if the music execs do go ahead with this, I think Apple should start selling music directly from the musicians rather than going through the labels. They could simultaneously reduce the prices and give the musicians much more than they get under their current contracts.

One Marine can be heard shouting to others that a man was only “playing dead.” The Marine corporal in question appears to fire a round from his weapon into the Iraqi’s head, and another Marine says, “Dead now.”

This half-hour long version of She Be She Strike contains all the great excerpts I posted earlier, from the Rolling Stones cover to the inexplicable Eskimo Marijuana segment. There’s more talking and singing over records, live in-studio music on the jews harp and guitar, a cover of Oh Susannah, an Eskimo skiffle number, Christian sprituals (!), and an incredible audio collage (which starts at the 25:40 mark) mixing Inuit throat singing games with a male Anglo singer whose voice I recognize but whose name eludes me.

a versão de 30 mins tem 28.4 MB mas parece valer a pena. as cassetes com esta emissão começaram a circular nos anos oitenta…, fico sem perceber bem, quando isto terá exactamente acontecido.

Esta coisa dos blogs enquanto media faz-me lembrar a estória do micro cinema, que se nos descuidamos e se for uma pessoa extraordinária consegue um feito surrealista que é reduzir uma equipa de produção em 10 ou mesmo 100 vezes.

Encontrei um artigo de Mark Glaser na OJR que fala dessa possibilidade.

O Patrick Phillips que tem um site denominado IWantMedia, e o mais curioso é que ele faz mesmo dinheiro com essa sua iniciativa, pois os conteúdos que gera estão cercados de publicidade.

O jovem Rafat Ali de 27 anos conseguiu tirar 60.000 USD anuais e continua a crescer… Ele está sediado em Londres e tem 2.500 subscritores da sua Newsletter.

Há mais um projecto falado no artigo que é de uma equipa de pessoas da qual é co-fundador o Olivier Travers que entretanto está mais virado para um seu projecto pessoal: MarketingFix, pois ambiciona viver desse seu novo projecto.

Acho muito interessante que nesta altura de “vacas magras” haja descobertas de novos modelos de negócios que pelo menos até ver resultam!

…e o sonho do Chico Balsemão

É aliás o sonho do nosso compatriota Francisco Balsemão, só é pena que ele ainda não tenha mesmo encontrado a fórmula mágica para a Internet… parecem-me faltar-lhe pessoas que consigam ter uma perspectiva tão eficaz quanto ele próprio consegue ter nas áreas mais clássicas de negócio (ver o caso da SIC Notícias e a própria SIC) onde ele realmente tem sulcado caminhos como um verdadeiro descobridor (esta tirada é um bocadinho kitsh pimba).

Mesmo assim considero esta última associação com o Sapo – http://sic.sapo.pt, uma boa chance, mas enquanto o seu site principal da SIC parecer um panfleto de supermercado mas daqueles horríveis em que os atoalhados se encavalitam nas televisões de plasma… surrealista se comparado com o nível das próprias estações de televisão que têm muitas qualidades irrepreensíveis.

este tema está cada vez mais interessante, penso que se torna realmente a questão mais fundamental de todas. o direito de citação e recriação das ideias é basilar para uma sociedade mais criativa e evolutiva, em oposição a uma sociedade em que as ideias são geridas por grandes empresas e aglomerados delas impedindo-nos formalmente / legalmente de criarmos algo de novo, pois no entender legal eventualmente tudo terá um nexo.

na direcção do “Expresso”

A jornalista de televisão Cândida Pinto substitui Fernando Madrinha na direcção do semanário “Expresso” a partir de 1 de Janeiro. Este último vai dirigir a edição portuguesa do “Courrier International”, que o grupo Impresa começa a editar a partir do primeiro trimestre de 2005. Mas mantém a sua coluna no jornal. Cândida Pinto, que tem tido a seu cargo a área de grande reportagem da SIC (também da Impresa), disse ao PÚBLICO que nunca trabalhou em imprensa e que esta é uma área que tem empenho em conhecer por dentro. A mudança insere-se numa “política de mobilidade entre as várias empresas da Impresa”. A jornalista, que trabalhou na RDP, TSF e RTP, foi directora da SIC Notícias e tem-se destacado como repórter de guerra. No “Expresso”, vai ser o elemento de ligação entre a direcção e a “força móvel” a criar, a qual, segundo disse ao PÚBLICO o director, José António Saraiva, constituirá “uma alteração bastante radical do funcionamento da redacção”. Esta nova equipa vai reunir “jornalistas de várias secções, com o objectivo de acorrer aos temas de actualidade”, o que implica uma estruturação diferente do primeiro e segundo cadernos do semanário. Cada edição passa a ser estruturada em função da actualidade, explicou Saraiva. As secções “deixam de ter espaços burocraticamente determinados” e passam a ser planeadas de acordo com a importância da agenda.

Outra novidade tem a ver com os colunistas. O jornal quer reforçar a penetração na área do Porto, e por isso reforça as presenças do Norte: Miguel Veiga vai escrever na área de política social, Carlos Tê (letrista de Rui Veloso) sobre espectáculos, Manuel Serrão sobre desporto. Entra também Daniel Oliveira (do Bloco de Esquerda e um dos animadores do blogue Barnabé), com uma coluna sobre política. Saem Manuel Maria Carrilho, Duarte Lima e Alfredo Barroso. Encontrei um artigo muito interessante no OJR, com o sugestivo título: Sites de notícias exclusivamente locais estão a agitar os subúrbios.

A verdade é que as rádios locais acabaram por terem sido absorvidas pelas grandes cadeias nacionais, foi de facto uma idiotice! Teremos que estar atentos ao que vai acontecer neste novo caso…

É giro porque a publicidade eficaz nesses meios mais pequenos continua a ser o boca a boca.
